400ex jetting troubles
#1
I just recently jetted my 400ex carb and it's running lean I have a 152 main, stock pilot jet,and the needle in the stock postion. I have the air/fuel screw turned out 1-1/4 turns and it's still lean,I had the air box lid off which is what I wanted to do but now i put it back on cus i thought it would richen it up if I reduced air flow but I guess not. I dont know what to do please help.

are you sure you are runnign lean it will have a white tip on the plug if you are...what does the exhaust that you need call for I don't have a 400ex but could prob help a little...I would set the needle on a different clip the closer it is to the point the richer the mix will become I believe...and if it is still runnign lean start with a larger main jet and work your way back and see which jet helps make the mixture right.

I may be off on this as I don't have one but from the pic from the link I listed it looks like you take the cover off where the cable housing is it looks like its the right side when sitting on the bike. Then when you get it opened take the throttle and move it so the throttle is opened and that should release the tension on the cable and then it should pull out there should be some sort of connection thing that keeps it in place and the cable should pull out once the tension is released and just do the same for when you go putting it back on.
