Default Going Back!!!

Anyone else remember the time when we didnt have many options on aftermarket items?? I know, we are no where near what yamaha, honda, and suzuki have for aftermarket vendors. But we have come along way in 6 years.

My question is, what would it be like with out any new R&D going on for the DS. Think about this, what if people like Pami, Tvi, On Dunes, KMS, and Hpr stopped striving to find new mods for the DS?? We would be over taken by the Raptors and the 450's in no time. Im not saying we are the best but, the Ds community has taken home alot of trophies in the last couple of years due to these companies and builders finding more hp and lighter weight items.

The last few months I have been setting back watching all the in-fighting between the different camps and where has it gotten us?? I thought we were better off before all of the, my-builder is better than your builder. Isnt there enough room for each of the companies to make a good living selling us Ds products?? Why do we have to take one builder and drag them through the mud just because we use anothers products?? I understand that its a forum and everyone has an opionion. But theres really no sense in destroying someones buisness that doesnt deserve it, because I use anothers product. These companines can only continue finding us new products if we spend money with them, no matter who we use. I dont think any of these builders or vendors are becoming rich off what little bit of product they move, I feel they do it because they truely enjoy it. When it stops being fun to them or they start loosing money they will be forced to shut down. Then we back be back to 2000, with very limited aftermarket..

I'm currently having HPR build me a full race motor. That doesnt mean I dont believe that pami or Tvi can make me faster than I am. I just choice them on the simple fact that what they offer what works best for me and the plans I have for my bike. I have met all of the major vendors and builders in the DS community, personally. All of which are great guys and I hope I have the opportunity to work with them at some point with my bike or others I build in my life,(Gary at TVI, Kelly at KMS, Jeff(The Bom), Randall(222) and Eric(Mr. HP) at HPR, and Glenn(Sandbomber) at on dunes.

Lets stop all of the jabbing at the builders and vendors. If one of the shops or vendors stopped and shutdown tomorrow, it would hurt alot because thats one less option for us.

Mike, I have never read such a great post such as this one. You just typed EVERYTHING I have been a little bent out of shape about and have witnessed in the last 4 -6 months.

You hit the nail on the head. Thats why I brought up "where would we be" in your other thread. You ARE 1000% right.

I am glad you are going big with your motor. I would like to hear the update. Nothing like newfound power. The limits have been pushed with the hpr 855cc motor.. Even the 830cc pami but that has been around for years. The new heads that ive seen are a totally different animal. Who would have thought we would be here today with this selections of mods.

Thanks to all the builders out there!! And a special thanks to hpr for unmatched customer service till this day.

To be honest, I don't think anyone has been jabbing anyone for some time. I haven't heard a cross word in 3 to 4 weeks. It is almost as though it resolved itself.

BTW, I only remember 1 or 2 people dragging one builder and one supplier through the mud. One of them doesn't say much anymore and the other has gotten really friendly to the builder and supplier they were going after. Once that happened the "bickering" stopped.

It has been nice to not have any ludicrous accusations out there to have to defend against.

Actually, I'd rather not re-live it.

PS - Scott, how do you feel about THEBOM RACING? Would you recommend them?

i would agree to 1BigDSRider with your thoughts!! My bike is stock bore with all HPR internall parts except springs and exhaust!! Your looking for non negative remarks towards builders and basically a thank you to them for their hard work, I agree!! Without them we would all be slow, some slower!!! I just find it hard to beleive that you did not recoganize Ron Woods, hard to believe he can be forget!!! Since he was an original rotax pioneer long before the DS!! I have spent lots of money with HPR and they have done me a outstanding job, not only product, but their knowledge of their product is unbelivable, with that their customer service is top notch, thanks Randall!!! Jeff(The BOMB) has also been so awesome in my build , questions no matter time of day always made time, great guy!!! Ron at ondunes same BOAT, he made alot of time in my build over the phone, same thing no matter time of day!! Recently met Kelly at Kms he dynoed bike three weeks ago, class act!! Most important hes local 35 minutes away, how dumn I am for not soaking up local knowledge, since all other local shops have drained the piggy bank!! Elliot at Ron Woods very knowledgable and helpful!!! Have never encountered with Gary at Tvi but beleive he is among the top notch guys I have delt with in the DS, better it world!! I honestly dont beleive any of these guys are going anywhere do to supply and demand!! Since society as a whole is not getting any lighter, humans that is!! every year the average weight is getting higher and higher as a whole in america!! the bigger structured quads will only be demanded!! I do believe that these builders and vendors can only go so far with their technology, before they get passed up!! This comes down to Can-Am giving you and I with others a new and Improved DS!! Then the cycle starts over!! Remember we are the top DOGS the DS but without CAN-AMS support into the future for what we are looking for we can only go so far as a whole!! Someone needs to get ahold of CAN-AM, some one up the chains got to want to know how the ds world feels?? They are the breakers of the WORLD CHAMPIONS future!!!lol Semper Fi carlton

I didnt mean to forget Ron Woods, I have been trying to find the right words to say for the last few days and they always seemed to get crossed up. Ron Woods was the first on the scene and has given us many fine products.

My main point was that with all the bickering that has gone on, I felt that some of the builders and vendors caught bad raps.

We have alot of visitors and first timers that just got new bikes, that rarely or never post on here. All they do is come on and read back post. Trying to find info on what products work. Do a search and u will see hundreds of post about mods for the ds in here. But the problem u run into is that the first posts that come up are the ones with all the bickering and arguing. That may turn potential DS owners and forum members away. We have to look at the whole picture not just what benefits us now. For can-am to want to give us something new we have to show them its profitable.

So my question to you is this 1bigdsrider how much money have you spent in mods, to keep up with the others?? This is the reason why Can-Am needs to step up to the plate for our Ds community to stay in the race game they have to put out something new!! Sooner or later the compromise of keeping up with the other manufactures takes its toll on the average guys pocket book!! I also beleive reliability is not going to be their real soon with these new big big bore builds!! That only leaves CAN-Am at the plate, cause our team of mixed builders can only load the bases, they Can-Am need to get us home!! Lets just say one buys a 06 DS650 for 5500! he will need to drop 2000 in aftermarket parts to really compete with the other manufactures top products of 06 dollar for dollar . 700r raptor 450s across the board with same rider!!! Those are just hypathetical numbers!! dollar for dollar the ds is behind, but rugged, reliable ,comfortable, and outstanding monster will always be above the others!! Unless Lazyboy comes along and builds a new couch competitor in the atv world i am a DS rider for life. Just think Can-Am needs to release that top secret screaming leather sectional with ice chest compartment!!lol Imagine if they did what would these builders plus many many more would produce , especially when the playing field would be even with research and products!!
