This is the reason why Can-Am needs to step up to the plate for our Ds community to stay in the race game they have to put out something new!! Sooner or later the compromise of keeping up with the other manufactures takes its toll on the average guys pocket book!! I also beleive reliability is not going to be their real soon with these new big big bore builds!! That only leaves CAN-Am at the plate, cause our team of mixed builders can only load the bases, they Can-Am need to get us home!! Lets just say one buys a 06 DS650 for 5500! he will need to drop 2000 in aftermarket parts to really compete with the other manufactures top products of 06 dollar for dollar . 700r raptor 450s across the board with same rider!!! Those are just hypathetical numbers!! dollar for dollar the ds is behind, but rugged, reliable ,comfortable, and outstanding monster will always be above the others!! Unless Lazyboy comes along and builds a new couch competitor in the atv world i am a DS rider for life. Just think Can-Am needs to release that top secret screaming leather sectional with ice chest compartment!!lol Imagine if they did what would these builders plus many many more would produce , especially when the playing field would be even with research and products!! Semper Fi carlton
Way too much im afraid. I would hate to add it up but bike and mods together im sure, I could probably bought a very nice car with the money!! I'm a speed freak. If I wasnt spending it on my atv, I would be dumping alot more money in to a race car.

Dollar for dollar is not a battle the Ds community will win. Even to build up the new 700r is much cheaper then the rotax. We are getting great performance from all of these builders. We just need to the prices more reasonable for the average duner. If the Ds continues to sell off the showroom then Can-am will keep building it.

I would agree with that up to 100 hp. After that, the Rotax is a lot more cost effective than the competition

With equal riders isnt a stock DS still faster than any other stock machine? If not its gotta be at least 2nd.

There is a few things they (the rest) cant take away from us (the DS community) and thats the shear fact that we do hold the RECORD for the fastest E.T. with a single cylinder 4-STROKE atv and the RECORD for the fastest E.T. with a bone stock 4-STROKE atv engine. Not to mention the title for King of the Hill 2006 at FSW's. Thats quite a feat boys. Lets keep it rolling.

The Genoa Jamboree and the Clash of the Titans are right around the corner, we need all the help we can get to keep Bombardier in the lead.

I disagree since nobody has proven 100hp N/A. That means a 700r is cheaper to build 70hp and a nitrous sytem is the same price for both. Rotax would be more reliable at these power numbers but thats another discussion.
