Valve Cover Sealing

Valve Cover Sealing
On a 300EX, is there supposed to be a gasket for the rocker assembly to the head sealing surfaces? There are O-rings on the rocker covers, but no gasket or O-ring was in my gasket set for the top of the head. Am I supposed to just use silicone or something like that?
