Default Yamaha Blue Plastic Fixed

Did Yamaha ever that that annoying problem fixed with the blue stuff where it'd turn white from rock hits and bend situations?

We're thinking about an 07 Raptor but not sure if I want the same issue I had with my YZ426's plastic starting to look crappy (and not from wrecking).

I don't think they changed anything. It's not hard to remove the white stress marks though, all you need is a heat gun and some time. But yeah, it would get annoying if it ended up with stress marks on it every time you rode.

For some reason I wanted to say that I read in one of the MX magazines 2-3 years ago they were changing the plastic formulation to help prevent that. Doesn't mean it didn't work even if they did though huh.

Care to explain? My warrior was messed up when I got it. I would love to get rid of the white stress marks.

If you don't wreck it, it won't get stress marks very easily. Unfortunately, it doesn't take a very hard crash to get them. White is a much better option if that is your biggest concern.

Unfortunately it doesn't even take a wreck. Come to think of it, our old 2000 blue-colored blaster had a bunch of white rock dings on it's fenders too.

I don't think you can't get a white rappy this year unless you buy the GYTR one and it's not worth the extra hundreds of bucks in our case.

Not the end of the world either way, just curious if they'd improved the plastic any.

All it takes is a heat gun (it's like a hairdryer on crack, about $20 at a hardware store). It's not completely idiot proof, but if you have some patience it should turn out just fine. The idea is to heat the plastic up enough that the pigment blends back into the plastic (they seperate when it bends). If you are impatient and rush it, you can get the plastic too hot and melt it or blister it, but if you start very gradually until you get the feel for it you should be fine.
