What do you think? Has anyone gotten the chance to actually test both of these with pipes from the same After. company. I would like to know which engine has more potential.

put your money on the raptor! If you put a DMC ALIEN system on your raptor i here you wont be able to hold on. AFTER ALL, the ds650 is just a skidoo mxz with 4 wheels. lol

Both machines are with in an eyelash of each other in performance. It is just a matter of taste. It is like chocolate or vanilla ice cream both flavors are great but it is just a mater of taste which one you like. I think the DS650 has the more proven engine now. We will not know about the Raptor till this time next year. The rotax has been used for flat track and desert racing for years in motorcycles. The Raptor engine has the performance only time will tell if it has the durability.

Cald...the race between 2 properly tuned machines would probably be a very close one. The 660cc engine has been used in motorcycles for a while though.

Gary,

I believe when they first started. They were using the 660cc design from a motorcycle but when they got done with the atv there were very few likenesses between them(engines). I'll have to check in my 'Official Yamaha POWER Sales Guide". That book was cool it showed you the specs along with lines to use on the customers like FASTEST ATV in the WORLD. BEST Power-to-weight ratio. Along with + feedback from a different variety a riders, although I'm pretty sure they only put the good comment in the book. LATA

Cald....do a search on SZR 660. You will find all you would wish on the overseas bike. The basic structure of compression, bore and stroke, internal gearing, and the 5-valve head are the same.

Dave..you forgot to post in your normal manner ..."THE KING". Get it right if you are gonna post it whenever we need an intellectual answer.
