05 yfz450 handlebars and cables????
#1
I just ordered a set of pro taper atv/high bars and when I put them on I can't turn the bars all the way because the clutch, parking brake, and front break lines/cables are to short?????? can I buy longer cables without going to aftermarket controls? and where can I find them??? Tanks Ed

Yes, you can buy longer cables/brake lines, but I would try removing the zip-ties from your current cables and rerouting first. I know Raptor bend bars are right at the limit on the YFZ, much taller and you need to get longer stuff. Any chance you can return the high bend and get a Raptor bend? Probably not if you already put them on.

I'm sure I could return them but I really like the way they sit. thats why I figured Iwould need to get longer cables. I found a place that has 2" extended cables for adding a vibration dampner and I think/hope those will do the trick. Just wondering if anyone else had this problem and might have a different solutin that wouldn't cost me another $125.00.

As scooter said, try re-routing the cables first.
I run a +1 1/2" steering stem on my raptor, but I still run the stock cables and they have plenty of room.
Remove your plastics and gas tank. Cut all the black factory zip ties connecting the cables to electrical wires and components. Turn the bars back and forth and see if there is any excessive pull or limitations on the bars, i.e. a frame rail, oil line or other part in the way. See if the cables are binding on any other cables, electrical lines or hoses. Seeing that you only have taller bars and not a taller frame, you should be able to route your cables in a way that eliminates binding without buying any cables, parts or other bars.
good luck

We'll the rerout of the cables fixed the parking brake and clutch problem but the front brake hose is a no go. looks like I'm gonna end up shelling out for aftermarket brake lines. Thanks for the tip on the other two though...
