just looking for some tuning tips.i wont be able to do the porting so im hoping to hook it up to the stock ports and throttle cable. i have a k&n filter and modified airbox, and a ctracing complete exhaust system with 12 discs.what do you guys think? and also the pump is not connected. i dont actually have it yet, but i do know the accelerator pump is not active. id like to activate it. how much to acivate it assuming it needs every part for the accelerator pump? thanks guys, this forum is a true asset to us ds and can-am guys. thank you

First I would not recomend running the carb. without porting the intake, you may not gain any HP that way, or you could probably take the intake peice & rubber boot too and the carburetor to a local machine shop and have the porting done for a reasonable price, or their is HPR OR RWR
jetting should be something like this:
pilot jet 30 (with accel. pump)
pilot jet 40 (without accel. pump)
Main jet anywhere from 150-170 (some member's running larger jet's) I recomend a 160 mj. to start.
air mixture screw about 1-1/2 turns out. Will vary by altitude & climate.
You can re-use the stck cable, you must use a grinder/dremel to make it work. Would be much easier to buy one made for the TM45. RWR and HPR has them.

ds650ctracing is right about the base settings. I just got my used RW TM running and Hightower helped me with the settings. I'm at 30 pilot, 50 pump jet, 1.5 turnes out a 97 neddle on the second from the top groove, and a 165 main, still testing the main. It runs real smooth and has great throttle response.
Do you have the Ron Wood model with the extended outlet? It so you need to replace the rubber boot as the carb mounts against the intake manifold.
There will be a large step if you do not openup the intake on the carb side. I agree with ds650ctracing that you really should get the intake at least matched to carb size.

youre talking about the piece that is between the carb and head right? the one that splits one into two correct? just get that ported? thats no big deal. and you say to port the rubber connection tube too? they can do it to the rubber tube? can i buy a new bigger one cheap? thanks

i was just looking at the price for the intake porting....... thats kinda pricey. 150 at hpr and 177 at rwr...... oww. that hurts. are there any cheaper options that would yeild the same results or should i just pay for it because these guys do it best? thanks for the input.

sorry but i question ds650ctracing about the intake? i am running a 45mm carb without a ported intake and it runs great for sure making a ton more power than the stock junk carb!! i did put in a 170 main over the weekend and it all but flooded the thing to death even after dropping down to a 160 and it was still sluggish, then i reinstalled what RWR sent with the carb a 150 and it ran perfect. one thing i did forget about was putting stronger clutch springs in because at 7500-8000rpm i felt some clutch slip. my 2 cents

i have the tm45 on my 05.. bougt it with the intake from RWR .. when the head work was done( much latter then the carb) it might have been ported but i don't think it was. after tuning the first time i have been HAPPY. the RWR intake was designed ,i thought, to fix the problem with the porting at the head.
