Scrambler 500 FREAKED UP!
#1
Hi my scrambler 500 belt shredded on a ride by my brother in law whom tried to make it home until the belt finally snapped. Well when I took the cover off the belt was shredded and stuck in the pulleys (clutches) and the clutches are all nicked up from the belt and the plastic cover is pretty beat up too. I could kill him!!!! Anyway is there any way to clean these up or am I going to have to buy new ones?

It all cepends how nicked up it is an if there a sharpe edges. As long as it is smooth shouldn't hurt a new belt. you will most likly need a new cover. You can find clutchs on e-bay pretty cheap.

to save some money, yes you can carefully file down the sharp edges. but be carefull! you CANNOT ruff up the clutch surfaces with the file!! this will shorten the life of any belt. but as long as things are smooth, you should be able to run it with out any issues.
also before you replace the belt, make sure to remove all the belt shreds from the clutch snorkel..... if the snorkels are clogged, you will overheat a new belt and shred it too....(not good)

the surfaces where the belt rides is what i meant...but if you modify any surface in the slutch setup, it better be smooth when your done. rought surfaces wil only shorten the life of your belt.
