Default How do I determine right rims and tires...HELP!

I now own two quads. An 06' TRX450 and a 06' TRX90. I would like to shop around online for new rims and paddles for the bikes. However I am not sure how to determine if the rims and tires will fit.

I look at the specs for my 450 and all its show it's tire sizes, but nothing about the rims. How do I know if the rim will fit? Do I just need to ensure it has the correct number of bolts? If the rims is a 4 bolt pattern and my bike is a 4 bolt pattern does that mean it fits? That seems to simple.

Thanks in advance!

No it doesn't mean it will fit as the hubs for the wheels could be different sizes and the bolt patterns could be different the first number is the tire size x width x rim size. Here is a size to make it a little easier when ordering just go to tire and wheel combo and type in the make and model then choose what tires and rims you want then if any extras like valve stems then they will send them already ballance and mounted.

LOL...I was on that site when my email told me this message came in. Those sites make it pretty easy, but I was also looking at some used sets on craigslist.com and that was were I was having problems.

I just bought the 90 last night so I am a little tight on funds. Any rims brands or tire brands to stay away from. I am looking for Paddle and Rim sets.

Rims well itp and douglas are good the beadlocks are much stronger but if its for the 90 I would just get a reg nice thick rim or so only if he is going to jump...as for the paddles I honestly couldn't tell ya as I only ride in trails no desert but the itp sand stars look like a good choice.

Front bolt pattern on the 450R is 4/144, and the rear is 4/110. Do not recall what the pattern on the 90 is........sorry. If you order from some reputable place like Rocky Mountain, they know all this stuff. Just tell them what quad it is.............

If this is for sand tires, look for some light rims like ITP T-9's. The T-9's are nice, because they have a greater offset than stock or Douglas, and that will widen the machine a few inches for some real nice extra stability! I have run Douglas Blue label with sand tires, but if you land a big jump, they will bend.

I ran sand tires on the 90 for a while, and they didn't do well. All they did was dig holes. Now, we just air the stock tires down some, and it works great!

Thanks for saying that. This is the 2nd time I have seen someone say this. I think I will hold off on paddles for the 90, and just persue some for 450.

I found this deal from a local paper here in Phoenix. I am thinking they are used. What do you think of the price....

4 tires front back with rims
sand sharks and razors
with I t p rims
250 for all
or 100 for the back ones

Hey, on that 90 the best thing I found for the rear was cheap Cheng Cheng knobby that was one size taller than stock on a light weight douglas blue label (.125) rim. I think it was a 19" tall tire with an 8" rim. I forget the width? There is only one tire in that size so it shouldn't be that hard to find. I believe I got them from RATV. We originally put them on the stock rims but they work better on the aluminum rims. If you can spare the the cash get them with the wheels because they are a PITA to dismount/mount

My little guy Kept getting high centered in the back with the stock tires on trails and that little bit of height really helped.

In the sand, the Cheng Cheng's would just float. They would also smooth out the ride too so he could go a little faster. The 90 aint exactly the king of wheel travel

My little guy is 18 now and rides the DASA 500.

Thanks for taking me back to those days when he and I would go on our "guy" rides.

Those memories meant so much that I couldn't part with his old 90. Now, it has a built motor with dual a-arms, full hydro brakes all around with an after market swing arm and aluminum drag axle.

My guys are young, and I already dread the day they will be 18. I cant imagine them not being in the same house with me everyday. My younger one actually turned 7 yesterday so that is why we got the quad. It was a "birthday/share with your big brother" present. There is no feeling in the world like seeing your kids that happy and excited. Was worth the big hit to savings!

BTW...I just moved from Tucson about a year ago. I worked at Intuit over by the airport.

I think I would have lost him if it weren't for the quads. I think he would have been a statistic.

Because of the shared interest in the quads, we always had a line of communication, no matter how bad things got!

And I have to tell you, at times it was bad.

I think you made an investment.
