Default sunl mini 100 dies w/o choke on

I purchased a Sunl Mini 100 (Transformer V6) last week. Nice looking ATV, good power, but...today it would not idle. So...I adjusted the idle screw. Worked fine for a few minutes, then the idle speed changed too high. Adjusted back down, lasted 5 minutes, and now, it will only start and idle with the choke pulled all the way out. It idles perfectly smooth like this, but naturally you cannot ride it that way. Adjusted the mixture screw...no change. Even thought this is only the second tank of gas in it, and it has only been riden on the driveway and yard, I checked the lines, gas filter, and air filter. By the way, if you try to take off, it just sputters like it is out of gas and then dies. Can someone give me some pointers?

Thanks!!

sounds clogged maybe? how could the carb be clogged already! now that it is getting cold, I do let mine warm up some before my son rides, but only for a min or two, you said you ran it for 5 min and it was bad, someone mentioned there being a gel in the carbs during shipment, i wonder if that would be the cause of your problems???

try adjusting the mixture screw, start at 2 turns out, then turn out or in untill the highest rpms obtain, then set the idle

Default sunl mini 100 dies w/o choke on

Cranked it this morning, let idle for 1-2 min with choke completely closed. Then took off...fogging the gas to it to keep it running. After a few laps around the driveway, it idled and ran beautifully. So...I set the idle screw to approx 2 turns out and set the idle speed - ran great for 10 minutes...then same thing. Had to work the choke back and forth to get it back to the garage. Put battery charger on it thinking low voltage...it showed ok. Finally I did the same thing I did this morning...fogged it and ran it around the driveway pumping the gas...within 2 laps...it cleared up and now runs great. My guess is bad gas - trash, etc. I bought it at a Town & Country, and at times I notice my car doesn't do so well with their gas, but they are the cheapest in town. I am going to drain the gas and try Exxon.

Thanks for the tips!

Bigboredhonda,

No, I haven't cleaned out the carb. I am a little nervious about disassembling it. If it is trash, will it pass through the carb, or is it necessary to take it apart.

Some will pass through but some might get stuck in there. you dont have to pull it totally apart. just try to get the big stuff out.

I have one of these and found out that the spark plug was complete crap. Used a new NGK listed for a honda TRX 90 and runs like a champ now.

Replace that plug now with a good one before you need to!

Thank you all.

Got it running great. Bill2099, you were right...I put in a NGK plug and the thing cranked and ran entirely different. I also drained the cheap gas and refilled it with Exxon 93 oct. Again, it starts great now and even idled without the choke on at all in cool weather today.

This forum has been a tremendous help.
