Default sundiro sunray 50 carburetor

Having trouble starting our 02 Sundiro 50 model XDZ50QST, think I need a new carburetor. I can get it running briefly on starting fluid but cant keep it going. I had the carb cleaned and adjusted a couple years ago and it ran great, but not starting again so I think its time to replace. Any advice on where to get one? Wouldnt mind an aftermarket for better performance but replacement will be fine too, ideas? Thanks.

Well...after more tinkering and not being able to get to fire at all any more w/starting fluid, I determined it has a real weak spark, barely sparks off the bottom of the plug but wont jump the gap. Confirmed its not the plug, figured it is probably the coil but after doing a search sounds more like the "Stator", which I gather is on the flywheel and produces electricity, and is probably a real pain to change?

might not be too hard to change, if you can get the part.

Well eliminated coil as the problem by switching with bigger sister's. Guess that leaves either the stator or cdi as problem and by reading posts stator appears to be most common problem. I got a price of about $180 for replacement which seems to be about 1/3 value of the bike so I'll look around.

Billy Holt used to have some used stators for around $80. You might give him a holler at WRH Racing and see if he has something that will work.

Thanks, I'll do that. I pulled the stator and it appears in good condition but I dont know what I should be looking for. There was some dust on the coils and inside of flywheel, but not bad and no mud. I didnt do any test before pulling it apart because after eliminating coil I figured that was it, but I expected the stator to be in alot poorer condition. Is there something else I should be looking at or is the stator most likely my problem? IE real weak spark off the bottom of plug when grounded but wont jump the plug gap.

Secondly, does anybody know if these things are specific or kinda generic. I found a stator on EBAY advertised to be for 50, 70, 90 cc, appears to be nearly identical to mine except mine has 6 copper wire coils and this one has 5. Its only like $30, just wondering if it would work or am I wasting my money.
