Default 07 Grizzly Power Steering

Have been thinking about trading my 02 Kodiak for the new 07 Grizzly, but they are in short supply here in the UK so have been unable to get a test ride yet. It's the power steering that interests me, what do you guys that own one or have test ridded one think of it.

Default 07 Grizzly Power Steering

I just bought one 2 weeks ago. It's mainly for my wife (120lbs...just to emphasize the ease of the power steering). We were looking at the 450 because of it's size/manueverability over the 660 (I wanted more power). The dealership only had a 700 to compare against the 450. When she came back with a huge smile on her face I knew it had to be good. She fell in love with it immediately, and I was also amazed. My brother-in-law has owned many ATV's and currently has a Polaris 700 which feels like steering a dump truck next to the Griz. He asks if he can take the "Caddy" out for a spin. It's actually so easy to steer, it takes some getting used to if ridden hard (I have a Banshee). It's a great machine!

I own a Grizzly 700 which I love. It has all the power one could ever need. I don't know about top speed because I don't try to go as fast as I can. The power steering and EFI are great. The only problem I have had is the fact that it runs hotter than I would expect. It never gets too hot, just hotter than I would like. I don't think you will find another ATV with the attributes of the Grizzly. I drove the King Quad and it was great, but the lack of power steering made me choose the Grizzly. I also own a 05 Kodiak 450. I always thought it was the best all around atv, but that was before the Grizzly 700. I have about 260 miles and 25 hours on the Grizzly.

I have 2 of the grizzly 660 year 2006 and the wife rolled hers twice now because she has no upper body strength.
I was thinking about trading in one of them for a new 2007 with the power steering. I went to the dealer here but they will not let us test drive them at all. I see you have one of the new 700 w/PS and have sold the 660 you had. I just though i would ask if the PS is worth the upgrade and going over rocks and bad stumps that yank the handle bars real hard if the PS will stop all that. They started it and let me turn the handle bars but on a floor it seem to me to be the same I guess it works better if it is rolling. I got her a wolverine 2007 450 4x4 but it is not like the girzzly lacks power and groung clearance. We also have all the goods for a grizzly or add-ons. I also asked if the PS unit woulf fit on the 660 but no way and the frame is not the same they have lowered the frame ot motor in the frame and other changes anyway your thoughs on this please. also did you lose a ton of money on the sale of the 660??

I own a 700,no regrets. The p/s is an absolute dream. It makes this 600lbs. machine feel more nimble than the Kodiak. It's the best thing to be added to the atv industry IMO.I wished my wife would get one but she's happy with her Kodiak.

The ride is so plush and the power is great. Not the fastest big bore but the ride is so nice.

Thanka for the reply
We can't test drive them here the dealery will in no way let people test drive anything so your report is welcome. I need to just trade the old girzzly in them and get the wife one she can handle. I also see yamaha has the hard cases for that model did you get them?? They look tough and it looks like the aluminum section that joins them together are super strong.
Thanks a again

The '07 Grizz is my favorite 4x4 so far. It's ergonomically and physically comfortable. It has more standard storage than the older Grizzly. It handles better than the older Grizzly and has a little more ground clearance than the older Grizzly (thanks to the new A-arm design).

The power steering feature is a real winner IMO. You really notice the difference when you ride it for a while then get on something else (like my Brute Force). Besides making the quad easier to steer it also really does reduce the effect of having the handlebars jerked sharply when going over rough terrain. It doesn't eliminate this effect but it's a noticeable improvement. It works so well that the steering in 4WD (not in diff lock mode) has about the same feel as when you are in 2WD. Running with the front diff locked feels noticable stiffer, but not like the 660 Grizzly.

The engine braking effect is better on the 700 than it was on the 660. It nearly came to a stop when I let off the throttle as I was backing down the loading ramp for the first time. My Brute Force has better engine braking than the 660 Grizzly, but the 700 Grizzly has better engine braking than the Brute Force.

As for the hard cases, I got the Ducks Unlimited version which comes standard with the front box. It's a large box with plenty of storage, but I don't like it as well as the Tamarack front boxes that I've been using on my Brute and older Grizzly. The Yamaha box has a locking latch but I found the key quite stubborn making it a pain to use, although you also have the option of leaving it unlocked, locking it only when you feel it is necessary. Besides the lock, the Yamaha box has two rubber pulls at either end of the box which secure the lid down. These require a strong pull to stretch them over the pegs on the box and some people may find it hard to use. My Tamarack box uses two metal latches which are much easier to use IMO...
