I am getting shocks for my 400EX and am thinking about getting +2 a-arms the same time since the shocks have to be valved for them. I ride woods a lot though and am worried that it will be to wide. Any of you guys with +2s trail ride a lot? How do you like them if you have them? What can I expect. Thanks,

i sure hope not man, im getting +2's this morning and i mainly race but trail ride too,haha....but nah, depends really....do you have an extended axle? if its +2,+2 like mine and you have been going through the trails you will have no problem, ....the only thing is, you probably wont get to fly through the woods in tight places like before because youll have to be weeding through tight trees.....well goodluck....

 

Depends on the woods... Around here, yes, much too wide. Racing in the woods, don't even think about it....

I ride in Greencastle near you quite a bit and race a 400EX in the woods(XC, HS). For woods riding +2 is too wide unless your not afraid to smoke a tree every now and then. I asked the same question to all the woods racers and got the same answer.

Rather than run +2, you could run +1 offset wheels and a front spacer (+1) and that would give you the +2 your looking for.

This will also soften the front end up a little, but the front stock shocks are way too stiff anyway. I wouldn't do this if you plan on racing motocross or are regularly catching some serious air.

Where can you ride in Brazil anyway since Stoughtan is closed?

Hey im right near you guys. Where do you go to ride. Anyway, I'm at about a +12" on the rear and I have found some pretty skinny spots where only about half of each tire makes it through, But since every tree gets skinnier as it goes up just slow down, and then when your back wheeles hit gas it and it will climb up and through the tree. I know this doesnt help you out with the front a-arms thing so this post was really pointless. But then again, 12" is alot wider than stock

 

Plus A-arms are good because you can get more travel out of them than the stock ones.You might consider getting another set of wheels with one inch inboard offset from stock to narrow the machine for tight woods riding, this way you can take advantage of more suspension travel & use original offset for riding when width is not a factor.If you are considering buying a new wider rear axle ,buy one that is adjustable{like a X-33} then you only have a set whels & tires for the front. {+2x2=4,-1x2=2}?????!

 

My 86250r has +2,+1. On the front end, with TCS shocks and ordered by mistake wide off set rims. The front is about as large as a DS, and I love riding in the woods. Its in Canadian backcountry
with lots of trees and muskeg. I rarly have problems, but some times its just to big and some tree has to move. My brother has a 400ex when riding it. It seems to tall, to narrow and top heavy. In comparison with the 250r.

 

I have +2 laegers and a +4 axle on my 250R with stock offset wheels and it fits through the trails in PA. Most of my racing friends enjoy trail riding as well as racing. I just two wheel it on the side if I know I'm not gonna make it.

 

yeah i just hit the "Jump" button, and the quad shoots in the air to avoild a tight spot.

Or i hit the "Squeeze" button and i can fit through any tree as wide as me..., so i burn my friends in the woods.
