cant keep the front end on the ground

I'll say its probably because i weigh in at 160, i dont have much for mods so its not that i have too much power but its mainly when racing, i dont want to let off the gas but damn near have to unless i want to end up on my A$$. How about launching in 2nd? whats the best way to do that?

lower the front end of your bike by ajusting front shocks, take all the spring off, if that still aint good use rachet strap across the top of bumper from a arm to a arm, i made some turn buckles to tie my front end to the ground that even works on pavement also made my own wheelie bar.

well it sounds as if you are popping the clutch when driving and thats why you are doing the wheelies when you are on the line hump it and you should get a better start I have a ds and I am 160 also and have never had problems keeping the front end down

From reading your post it sounds like you have been launching in 1st gear so...use 2nd gear and since you asked here is how i do it.Rev the motor until it is almost hitting the rev limiter then dump the clutch and keep your weight forward until you get the front end to settle down then transfer your weight slightly to the back of the seat and shift as smoothly as you can.If you want to get a truly good holeshot you must be willing to hit it hard off the line.It just takes practice.

definatly practice.....it does depend on surface but mainly on tires and gearing. a ds has enough torque to pull 2nd on hard hooking dirt....even in stock form. im 140 and my ds is slightly modded and i can keep it down fairly well.

2nd gear starts will work on any surface if you get the right amount of wheelspin on take off.It does not take huge power to avoid bogging the motor when starting in second gear just proper clutch control and weight distribution.

I was racing a guy on a brand new 07 LE Raptor the other day and right off the start he flipped it over backwards bending his grab bar along with his pride. It was absolutely priceless

Like they have all said before, start in 2nd,leaning over the bars, rev it up to almost rev limit and dump the clutch. I come in at a hefty 180 and when I drag my buddies at the dunes I still pull the front end up. Just practice 2nd gear starts and that should cure the problem.
