Default 250EX Thumb Throttle

The thumb throttle is stiff. I disconnected the spring in the carb and it moves freely. I lubed the cable and all parts on the handlebar. Soon as I connect the cable to the spring and barrel it gets stiff. I also have a Rincon which is much easier.

Any ideas?

Anyone have an extra carb spring that I could try to modify? I called Honda to order another spring and they said $29.99...you can't orgder just the spring.

How bout a twist throttle?

For short rides its OK, but to ride all day hurts your thumb.

Thanks for the help

I have two 250's, and my buddies have a bunch of them too. This is not something common to this model, so this is something going on with your particular machine.

I would check the carb... Is it a butterfly or sliding type valve? May be it somehow got dirty and needs to be cleaned or lubed.

well define harder because its harder then his rincon hes not saying its impossible jsut prob not used to it and his thumb gets tired more often...you should be able to ordr a thumb saver from just about anywhere ask red400exrod where he got his they are pretty much an extended thumb throttle so you get more leverage which makes it easier to push

You can get a thumb save at most bike shops/dealers or order online from Rockymountainatv.com.
They are just a large extension for the thumb throttle that clamp onto the existing thumb throttle.
