Default More Renegade models to come?

I was at the Powersports Show in Minneapolis this weekend, checking out the new sleds and ATVs, and saw the new Renegade at the Can-Am / Skidoo display, it was a mock up, with fiberglass fenders just on it to show what it will look like. Too bad no one was allowed to sit on it, the fenders and such were not actually attached, and you could see damage where someone tried to sit on it, but it still looks pretty mean. The tires seem a bit big for a sport/utility, but with a 62 hp motor, I guess that's not a problem. I made a comment to the rep that it was nice, but I liked the size and weight of my "little" 350 Wolverine, and wished they would have taken the new 500cc EFI twin in their new Outlander and put it in a lighter, sporty frame like the Renegade. He just looked at me, grinned and said, "Now you're just peeking under the tent" I assume that means there are plans to put a few more smaller Renegade models out, if the 800 does well ?? To be honest, I would seriously consider a new quad if they could keep it down size and weight wise, it just seems everyone is going for biggest/baddest/heaviest, and that's just not what I want. Power, yes, but not if I can't fit the dang thing in the back of my truck or trailer !!!! How about you Can-Am guys, any rumors about more/ smaller Renegades in the near future ???

I'ld say it is a good chance but, who knows.

Bomb er uh. . . Can-Am. . . has stated it will introduce new quads every 6-mos or something like that but, has taken the easy road on a number of them. . . the little import kids quads. . . the Renegade is basically their 800 stripped down. . . Can we see them doing the same thing to one of their smaller displacement quads. . . absolutely. . . wouldn't take much work. . . not like innovating a new quad from scratch so, I can see it a lot quicker than a new sport quad 450 class.

I think there are a few of us old Bomb guys that are just a little tired of all this Ute stuff and are waiting to see a true new sport quad.

No excuse for Can-Am not to release a DS700 with a 102mm bore (or larger) and Fuel Injection in a lightened chassis with a 520 chain, etc. This should be on the market already. Same thing for a 450 class true sport bike. . . what's the hold-up.

I've been thinking that for years, they started out real good with the DS and should have been hot on the other 4's heels and made a 450 sportquad. But who knows, maybe they will come out with a feul injected, lighwieght 450 that's gonna blow by all the others.

The DS simply doesn't sell......Nothing wrong with it, great machine but has a very narrow audience....the lightweight 450 class is where it's at. IF they could come up with a DS similar in weight to the Raptor then we'd be talking.

Look I know there are a number of Can-Am reps on here at any given time and if they didn't want to blow their cover they would tell you that they have been working on a midsize sporty for a number of years.

First, to create a entirely new quad with a new motor takes 3-4 years. They initially started looking at a 400ex type quad and or somthing along the lines of a Banshee....So there was time spent there, and suddenly there was the new wave of 450's comming, and the 2 stroke option was essentially dead...back to the drawing board which put them behind a couple of years. So since they have no 450 (Don't say Aprillia) they had to start with a fresh sheet of paper there.

So now they have somthing on the horizon and have had the luxury of seeing what the competition has created and since they listen to all your feedback, they surely will throw everything at this quad to make it a winner.

I was suprised at how many of the 700 Raptor's were at the hill this last trip. . . the big-bore isn't dead! The DS is just dated. Build a DS with a 103mm bore and FI, lightened and watch to see how many they sell. . . cork it up so a pipe makes it an animal and watch them roll out the door.

TPR - I've just had enough of the talking. . . put-up or shut-up.

Kaw: has a 450 with FI and Alum frame and Suz. has a FI 450 with some alum.

I don't care to speculate IF's, WOULDN'T IT BE NICE'S, or SHOULD HAVE's. . . Can-Am is out of excuses in the sport quad market. If Rotax can't figure out a 450 in a year there is an issue.

Enough Excuses.

I sure hope the Execs. are seeing this!

A 450 renegade does exist in prototype form, its a larger bore 400 outlander motor in a lighter better suspended chasis. The new 450 sport won't be out till it's perfect, (should be soon)it's got to be better than the rest or it won't sell.

I agree with you, and I think that everyone will be real pleased with the result. I wish I had more info, but I have been given nothing more than the fact that it will have 4 tires.

Have you guys seen how fast the market changes in the sport market. First it was the 400ex killer now it moved to the 450 and when a manufactor puts something out someone else comes out with something better a year later.
The Can-am 450 could be sold right now i know for a fact but Can-am wants to wait and make sure it will be the best for a couple of years. they want to make a 450 that will stay on top for a while and not for just a year.
every since Bombardier had to changed their name yes they had to change it because they lost the rights to it. they still had the rights to can-am so they just took can-am as their name. if you notice on the 06 outy line and the 05 outy line they knew it was coming because look at the bombardier stickers there is a lot on the 05 and very little ones, and lot less on the 06 line. They then looked around and wondered why they are making these tractor four wheeliers? they make the fastest snowmobile and jetski in the world why not the fastest fourwheelers and that is where all the motivation came in too redo their utlity line and sport line and that is why they promised a new quad every year.
well they have all there attention on this new 450 so why would they turn their attention and make another quad ground up when they can stripp down the 800 outy and make the renegade. that is why we have been seeing these very simple quads because they are too busy prefecting the 450 to be a 450 killer. i have no doubt to see a smaller renegade because i think a lot of people will complain on price on the 800 renegade so a smaller more buget minded quad would be good market.
