TRX 250 EX Idle speed problem
#1
Hi there!
My new TRX 250 has a problem idling.
When the bike is cold, it idles very rough. When choke is used, it's even worse.
The trick is to engage reverse with one finger on the throttle, one hand on the clutch and to still activate the reverse switch system.
If I pickup the idling speed, the bike starts to "creep" when in gear. ( the dry cluth starts to engage )
I've yet to talk to the agent's about it but have'nt had time to take it in.
Other than this gripe, the bike is a really nice one and look forward to many hour of fun.
Thanks!

Hi!
Bike is brand new.
About 4hrs on clock.
I'll drain fuel supplied, my experience has shown similar hassles with "expired" fuel.
I'll check mixture too, what's best way to do without CO2 tester?(DIY)
Or should I schepp it back to supplier?
Rgds!

Being so new, taking it back to the dealer might be the best thing to do. You will need a special tool to adjust the mixture screw which is located on the bottom of the carb. How does it run when it is fully warmed up?

That was fast!
Runs good once warmed up.Sometimes a bit erratic tho.
Supplier quite far from me,about hour's drive there. And no guarantee t ey'll sort it immediately.
On hopping it up,I've been told to pull out spark arrestor and remove restrictor on carb, then jet up a few sizes. What do you think?I'm not keen on a pipe or other mods yet.
Just fitted GRP (synthetic) spacers front & rear.Looks good.Riding on Sunday to feel difference.

OK this might work , drain the old fuel from tank and carb bowl drain then pickup some seafoam it's a fuel cleaner/stabilzer and will clean the entire fuel system and also the combustion chamber ; this stuff is the best i've ever used in over 20yrs in small engine service and repair ! you can get the seafoam at most any auto parts store, auto zone O'Reallys and advance auto parts stores , i get mine at O'Reallys cost's $4.99 + tax maybe more in your location ; but this stuff works' great i use a little bit in every tank full because the carb hold so little fuel that it can go bad fast with the gas we get today from these oil companpies today ! Try it and let's us know if it help's ............williebee
