Default Finally - a 22" radial

ITP finally introduced a 22" radial, and 6 ply to boot. supposed to be more durable than the typical ohtsu and dunlops due to the 6 ply.
I can't wait to bolt on a set this coming spring, my knarly's are due for replacement and I liked them well and would be getting another set if it weren't for this new tire choice.

Anybody tried them yet?

As most of you are probably aware, nothing and I mean nothing compares in traction to a radial, but until now you either got a 20" with insuffcient ground clearance for a DS and weak side walls, or a 25" utility radial. Needless to say I've been running non radial knobbies due to these restrictions, on my DS.

Any idea how much they weigh? Less than the XCT's?

Yea haw !!!

I have been e-mail Maxxis ever month and asking about a 22" in the I-razor. They keep telling me there no plans for a 22" right now !!!

Are these new ITP tires avaiable now?? If so from where.

I was just about to put an order in for a set of Razor 2's from Rocky Mountain

Will this be like the 22" Mudlight or XTR. I've been looking for a 22" radial. I have the stock tires which have been OK but I need something with more bite. Will the size difference change the gear ratio noticeably?

Yes with a 22" rear tire you will probably want to go to a 15 tooth front sprocket for every day ridding.
The 22" tire will give you an extra inch of ground clearance as well.

I believe the Ds should have come with a 22" rear tire from the factory !!!

Was the radial on itp's site? Or where did you find it?
Happy thanksgiving!

this new ITP radial had a write up in last month's dirtwheel's magazine, a full page article on it.

I cannot remember what it is called, but it is now listed in the Rocky Mt. ATV online catalog, go the tires and then ITP and you will find it. the 20's are in stock but the 22's are not in stock yet but they are listed. they will come in 22x11x9 and 22x11x10, and also the fronts will be in both 22 and 23.

they are MX/XC style knobbies, similair to ohtsu and dunlop radials, they are not a mud special tire, but radial knobbies do much better in mud than standard knobbies do.

they are very light - the article said the tire and rim combo tested came in a pound lighter than the dunlop combo of same size (tires tesed were the 20"), and I'm not positive but I think the dunlop radials are lighter than holeshots and razors and the like, I know the ohtsu radials are.

I believe they are available now, just not sure who all has them in stock yet...

Man timing is everything. I just went out and bought a new set of 22inch Shredders aka Groundbuster II. They were cheap and I am happy with the traction and clearance but they have slowed me down as I can no longer beat Jetsnow600's Outy 800. The big sidewall also make the rear end feel a little bouncy.
