Well people after my 2nd accident in a 10 month period and breaking my ribs both times my wife has decided she likes me better in one piece not all beat up. So I am jumpimg ship. It has been a real pleasure chatting with you all and thanks to ALL of you who have helped me with this bike. I have learned alot about my bike and other bikes. I will get on here alot still to help others. I am not giving up riding though, just slowing down a notch. Anyone who knows me know that I can not ride me 250R slow or easy, everywhere is fast and hard. So I am going the way of a putter 4 stroke with 4 wheels. [img]i/expressions/face-icon-small-sad.gif[/img] Something I can ride slow. Cause eveyone knows a 250R has only ONE speed FAST!!!

To bad you are giving up the trike. Whatever you do, DON'T replace it with a 450 race quad, they are all about fast to. What way are you thinking of going, sport or ute?

 

Not sure yet, thought about Polaris Predator 500 or Z400.

 

welp since you are wanting to slow down a bit I do not reccomend the 500... I have heard those things a FAST but a really nice quad!!! the 400 is a slower nicer bike I think. They are also a lot cheaper then the 500.

 

At least with the 4 strokes you can ride them slow regardless of cc size, 2 strokes, especially the 250R don't like that. You go through way too many plugs and the engine likes to run hard.

 

It is a hard thing to admit that the 3 wheeler is not going to cut it anymore. Not in the way of not being able to beat anything out there, but the broken ribs ect.

I know I went threw the same thing a few years ago. I was in the same boat in 2001 when I decided to get rid of my 87 250r Honda Atc. In 2001 the only choice for a sport bike was a 400ex. When i first rode one i thought what a letdown. I then found almost new DS650 and rode it. My first impression was "wow this was close". Still think the 250r could run down the DS650 without blinking an eye.

It took some getting use to ridding the DS650 after all the years on the 250R. 3 too 4 wheels, twist too thumb throttle, 2 stroke to 4 stroke. The 4 stroke makes power totally different then the chainsaw did. Once I got used to ridding it I loved it. Having torque threw out the powerband makes trail ridding a lot more comfortable.

After owning the DS650 for over 5 years and many modifactions including a 730 big bore kit I would not go back - it took some getting use too but worth it in the end.

nonsense! My R is VERY competitive in the woods, on the track, etc. I would never trade it for a DS for anything. That bike, when introduced, was OK at best. The 450s produced today will crush it out of the box. I bet you had to put a ton of money into that thing to get it to move. Sorry to be combative, but the DS is a dog. At least the 'Ol 3 wheeler is more competitive with the new 450s.

 

dont jump the fence yet try a 250sx the elc start and reverce sure is nice and thy go places were a 250r cant because of drive shaft and auto trans

 

I never said that the 250r was un competive. I even said the the 250r would still run my Ds down today. Just wanted to relate a story of how I went from my "R" to the Ds. Yes a 450 will beat a DS in stock form, but ride a 450 all day and ride a Ds all day - Comfort man !!!
