i have a 96 polaris sportsman backfires out ex . new reeds and intake boot.

 

sounds like it has a lean condtion. does it do it when you let off. check the plug color and see if its really white.

 

plug looks good backfires on idle and when you let off.throtle surge atjust off idle . thinking itcould be bottom end ? thanks for reply looking for good parts source

cleaned carb three times pulled head looks sloppy . paided 800.00 how much was your eng build where did you get parts dont know if ishould sell or build the rest of bike is in good shape.

 

i just bought it the engine was rebuilt, if the quad is in good shape and you paid 800.00 just rebuilt motor, i got like 3 or a little more into mine and basically everything has been redone except i wann put a clutch kit on it, all the other things listed i did and this thing runs great.

so if you can rebuild and keep your investment around 3k i would say thats not a bad idea.

yeah i dont know anything aout polaris not many pepole ride them down here. if ibuild i want it to run like hell
