Default 2004 700 shift selector stuck

My shift selector is stuck in "N" I tried lightly rocking it while trying to get it out of neutral but no luck yet. I haven't ridden in about 5 weeks which before putting it away I did pressure wash the whole thing pretty good for Winter storage. Any chance something is iced up or any other ideas? I have a service manual so I'm not afraid to tear into it if need be but I thought some of you might have some ideas. It has been pretty cold off and on lately with lows around 10 degrees if that's a factor. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Chances are if you have gone through water or have washed it, and it has been stored in freezing temps, then the positioner on the transmission where your shift rod connects is frozen inside, you need to warm up the quad then take the positioner off and let all the water out, pack it with grease inside and put some sealant on the gasket and re install, this happened a few times on my 700 in the winter.

I pulled it ouside when it was in the low 40's for temps and let it sit for a couple of hours. It did come out of neutral but might still be a little froze as it didn't move as freely as usual but I'll check into more.

are you able to move the shifter through high, low, neutral, park? i just had to repair my shift box, because my 700 was stuck in high, a friend of my drove it, and it came back that way, i could move the shifter but there was no gears, freezing temps were not the issues, after taking the box apart i found a gear ground up, $12 part alot of frustration putting it back togather without a service mannual. does any of these symtoms sound familiar?

It goes into all the gears, just not as smoothly as I think it should.
