Snorkel a 150 - Jetmoto, Kazuma Dingo, Redcat etc
#1
Fortunately, my kids arent speed demons but they do like to get into mud and/or water.
On these gy6 cvt 150s you have a rubber breather that comes off of the front of the cvt. It doesnt set up very high. I would imagine if the belt gets wet, it's going to slip badly. After all, the major atv producers that use cvt have them snorkeled, at least on their utes.
Anyway, I was wondering if anyone had snorkeled their's. If so, how they'd done it. Or, if they've found no need to even if they use the bike in water.
The way I thought might work was to take the bike to a parts store and find a radiator hose that would fit over the end of the factory hose. Using that diameter hose, you could then find radiator hoses that had bends where you needed them. It seems that you could then patch together a pretty decent snorkel. The reason I say take the bike, instead of just measuring the factory breather or taking just the breather hose is because you could then make a sort of mock-up in the parking lot (if they'll let you out the door with parts and most will) and buy just what you needed.
But this may be the hard way to do it. Maybe there's a type of flexible hose that you can buy that would be easier. Thoughts?
Also, the airfilter is probably going to need to be snorkeled, at least on the jetmoto - will have to figure out a better place to locate the filter. The dingo filter box looks to be somewhat water proof as it has rubber gasket on the side. Big splashes could easily enter thru the top tho.

Thanks, that looks good.
The pic looks like the airfiliter is not in the "airfilter box" tho. It appears to have the airfilter just above the mid point of the cvt cover - that's the same filter as the jemoto, btw. Unless they've just left the old filter housing and hose on the bike - hard to tell tho.
Is that how the bms comes?
Thanks again.

You are right the air filter box looks like it's above the CVT under the seat. Where you see the CVT snorkel running into the box is where the air filter box used to be on the older models.
My quad came with the K&N style air filter installed directly on the carb. The CVT came with a foam filter mounted into the front of the CVT cover.
Would it be possible for you to post some pictures of your air filter box? I am curious to see it. I haven't come across one like it yet.
Good Luck with your mod.
Looking forward to pictures when you are done and an update.
Have a Merry Christmas.

I can't post pictures right now. Probably will be able to after Christmas. But, if you look at your "pic12" above, you see the left side of a metal can roughly the mid point of the cvt cover as we mentioned above. It's a little larger diameter than a coke can (and a little longer). A rubber hose connects it to the air intake of the carb. A rod with threaded ends goes thru the center of the can/cylinder and holds the caps on with a nut on each side. A cylindrical airfilter goes in the can. Large holes in the bottom (or top or both - cant recall for sure) let air in.
There are two pics from the series you linked that show the right side of the engine. Those pics show the airfilter a little better.
I looked at some more pics of that bike and the cvt snorkel appears to be a stock part. I think I will call and price it. It will definately work on the jetmoto and should work on the dingo with possible small modifications.
