Default 05' 450R Exhaust Setup (Thoughts)

Couple questions...

When looking for an efficient exhaust set up (full kit, header and exhaust chamber) what is the best bang for the buck?

Secondly, what are other cheap but efficient mods (K&N filter etc.) that are available and have proven to be effective?

The exhuasts I would recommend are sparks, rossier, hmf, and lte...I am personally problably going to go with sparks or lte when I get the money and just got a K&n pro flow kit for xmas, but need to get a jet kit so I can't use it just yet.

I went with the FMF Factory 4 system with the powerbomb header. It came with a jet kit from FMF, plus the shipping was free. It was a little under $550. I'm not to sure about the K&N filter on the 450R's, I know a few ppl who have had problems with dirt ect. stuff getting past the filters. Check out www.team11moto.com. That's where I bought mine. Definately would do biz there again! Good luck choosing one. I love mine to death!

I bought a new "blemished" HMF QRS system on ebay for $300 shipped and I couldn't find the blemish I called HMF and the QRS system is rated at 6.2 HP and the full race was 6.3 the slip on was 2.3ish.

I would not go with a K&N filter for the reasons red rider mentioned, you could go with UNI and take the lid off, just under $30.00.

Depending on what kind of riding you do you may want to put a 13 tooth front sprocket for a more "rideable" bike and it only costs $7.99.

It would be hard to walk away if you could get that (non)blemished HMF shipped for $300.

I personally like the DASA pipes, paid $500 for each of them.

I have them on my 04 and my 06.

The TRX450R has harmonics/vibrations that seem to destroy pipes.

I have had the DASA pipes on for a bunch of hours without any of the problems other brands.

With other pipes I used to have to double nut the head pipes just to make it through a ride.

I've been looking at the setup they have at some of the Honda dealers around here. It seems that a lot of these bikes have the BIG GUN Evox or something very similar to that. It sounds decent, but I haven't ridden one to feel any power change. I've heard a lot of good things about FMF, but that was from guys with 1000cc street bikes. It's hard to really compare the two.

I've heard a white bros. pipe. It sounded good, but not as good as the sparks or FMF. But thats my prefrence. One of the main reasons I went with FMF is they've been around for awhile. You know you'll be able to get replacement parts or whatever. Who knows how long some of newer companies will be around to replace parts.
