Default Clicking when I turn

I searched the forum and most signs of clicking, point to bad CV joints. I check the joints and they seem to have very little play (grabing the shaft and shaking while rotating the wheels). On a lift, I have slight movement out of the joints on either side. Is it normal to hear some clicking during a turn. Seems to be the left rear when I turn left on any surface.

thanks

I have the same exact thing, at slow speed, and it sounds almost like a *** on my tire is hitting something, but its not. Any help would be appreciated! Mine isnt really a "click". Its like i described

The only way to check CV joints is to disassemble and inspect. If you have a CV joint with enough slop in it to feel it, it should have failed long ago. Could be a bad wheel bearing. The difference in stress on wheel bearings in turns compared to straight ahead is about 10 to 1.

thanks Bear. I guess if I tear it apart to look at them I might as well replace the joints. Right? Thing is, for my model, it looks like I have to replace the entire shaft, as the joints don't seem to be availab;e seperately.
When looking at the joints, do I simply look for the worn needle bearings in the u-joint itself?

thanks again

CV joints are not U-joints. There are no needles. There are 3 ***** in each joint and all cats have the one CV joint attached to the axle, so it isn't cheap. I would suspect the wheel bearings as the problem long before the CV's. To tear up a CVs takes a torn boot and to just keep running it untill the water destroys the joint.

I'll have to try to find a picture of these so I understand what I'm working with before I start.

Thanks again. You're a wealth of information!

One more question, Is it necesary to have a tool for those bands on the cv boots? Is there a trick to tightening without a tool?

Try here for parts pictures and numbers;

Arctic Cat Parts

No you don't need a special tool. No trick, common sense. You can use long tie-straps instead of the stock clamps too.
