I'm a novice so please be patient with me. I haven't had too many problems with my kids SUNL90 (battery issues), but now it won't start. He rode it one day and then it wouldn't start the next. I thought it was the battery (again), but the battery has been tested and it's ok. There was short in the compartment that houses the fuse. Now it lights up, but won't turn over. I pulled out the choke, tried a few times, but it won't turn over. I gave it 2 hours and tried again - nothing. I can tell that the battery is starting to go weak on me. What can I try? He wants to ride this thing!

From the context of your message, I assume you mean that it wont run when you say "wont turn over." The starter is engaging and turning the engine over, so to speak, right?

If so, do you have spark when the engine is turning over?

To check, pull the plug boot and remove the plug. Insert the plug back into the boot and ground the plug to the side of the motor. Engage the starter and see if electricity is arcing. If so, let us know.

Also check to see if it is getting fuel. Is the plug wet after choking?

How old is it? If it is getting spark and fuel, the first thing to check is the safety lanyard kill switch thingy on the back. I had to remove the one on the 70. Trace the wires from it and unplug at the first connecter you come to.

well put a battery charger on it first off. sort of a no brainer with that one.

get a new spark plug stick it in the plug wire the stick the plug to the engine. then hit the start button if it gets spark great instal the new plug in the motor and see if she runs. if not post some more. be specific about every thing you have done and observed.

 

It started!! Now I have another problem. It won't run top speed. There is a sputtering from the exhaust and it slows down when the throttle is depressed fully. Any idea? If it ain't one thing, it's two.

i would remove and clean the carburetor next.
