Default 03 blaster problem!

hello new guy here. i have a problem with my blaster. it will start and idle great. once i start moving it will lose all its power at a certain RPM or speed. It is almost like the parking brake is on so it can't rev any higher or go any faster. I have cleaned to carb 2 times and have good/fresh gas in it. I have read about the throttle override system but don't know how to remove/ check if it is bad. It is almost brand new with only about 20 hours on it.

What do you think could be wrong?

Thanks in advance!!!

I have a banshee and I just cut the cords and it runs great. Some people claim you have to get the kit.

i checked the switch with a multimeter and it was good. if i unplugged the wire by the carb top it still did the same thing, but if i unplugged the wire by the front left part of the frame it wouldn't go. i would put it in gear and it would just die. how can i tell if the carb top or tors thing is bad?

If this isn't even a possibility, just ignore this, as I'm not much of a mechanic, but could it be your speed limiter? ( the screw on your handlebars )

There will be a silver box on top of your carb with 2 cords comming out of it. One is the throttle cable that controls the fuel flow. The other is an eletrical line that shuts off fuel flow if the carb is stuck open. The one you want to cut is the electrical one which is the one on the bottom of the silver box. You might not have to cut it, follow where the cord goes and there might be a connector that you can unplug. Unplug that then unplug the eletrical cable that is comming off of your thumb throttle. At the point the TORS is deactivated but not removed. Thats what I have done to the shee.

You may also want to consider removing your e-brake. You can do that by taking the e-brake cable off of the clutch lever and unscrewing it from the rear brake. After that you need to remove the electrical e-brake sensor on the clutch lever. It Should pop out when you push the small tab on the top of it in. Take a look at it and you will see what im talking about.

If neither of those work I would reccomend taking the carb off then taking the reeds out and cleaning and inspectnig them.

The shee had the exact same prob you are discribing and I did all the steps that are listed above. Turns out it was the reeds, but having the other stuff off the quad made it quite a bit lighter and less "whimpy". Not to mention more reliable.

If you need more help just keep posting on here.

I'd get rid of the TORS, if it's not hte problem now it will be later. but it sounds like it is the problem. Here is a writeup on how to do it with some pics.
