Cooling Fan failure/overheating
#1
My buddy has a 2002 Sportsman 400 that had been overheating. I took a look at it and found a stick in the fan from the back side. We removed the stick but the fan will not kick on. Does anyone think that the moror went bad from constantly trying to turn or could the fuse have blown (is there a fuse?)

If it's the thromstat. Take it out and apply a little heat to it with a propane torch. If it's stuck ,it will sometimes unstick it by applying heat . Not too much heat ,just enough to unstick it

I had the same problem and it was the sensor on the bottom right of the rad ($70 at the dealer + 1 hr labor). Mine would overheat and the fan would not come on...I hope this helps...

yes it did.but first jump the two wires together that go to this switch to make sure the switch is the problem.once you put straight power to the fan it should come right on.if not its either your fan or a wire broke.
