Default 250x engine rebuild

Hello All

Im looking at buying a 1992 honda 250x. It runs good but smokes so I know piston rings are a deffinate. The engine has a 300ex head on it from what I gather from the seller, and the plastic has been replaced with used 300ex plastic. My question is how much of an overbore can I go before the engine would have to be resleaved? Is there anything else I should watchout for before buying this atv? Does anyone know if its ok to lap the valves, ive been told that hondas have a coating on the valves and shouldnt be lapped. It needs a little work but would be good to beat around on.

Default 250x engine rebuild

I'm in the process of building a 352 stroker out of a 250x bottom end with a 300ex topend.. I think that it is .60 over before you have to re-sleeve.. but, i wouldn't quote me on that.. i went straight to sleeving it and boring, but i believe its .6 over..
