250R Big Bore Kits
#1
I have been wanting to go with a Big bore kit on my 85 atc but am undecided.... 310,330 or power valve??? who makes the best kits?? Is the power valve that much more noticable. Say if I went with a 330 kit verse a smaller powervalve kit what would be better I have been checking all around CT Racing, DRI, ESR. I am looking to spend around $1000 to $1500. I appreciate any help!! I posted this in the atc forums as well but figured I would post up in the honda threads for possibly more feedback.
Thanks

First off, I am a four stroke kind of guy. I have never owned an "R".
I have read up on some of the 250r big bores, because I would like to have one, someday. The ESR products seem to run good and they get them ported for how you want them. The porting will mean alot when it comes to liking any 2 cycle engine. They have it down, but the others might also.
If I were to do it, it would be a 310 ESr.

I talked to ESR today I can get a 350 kit I guess they will stroke my crank 2mm put new seals, bearings, etc. billet head, trx11 port job for $1700 the guy I talked to said it would be the most reliable way to go and still make good power he said around high 50's to low 60's on the HP.He also said that I wouldnt need the PV kit due to I will be using it for drag racing only any input does this sound about right?? Good deal?? I already have 38mm A/S, V force, ESR atc 5 pipe. My swingarm is +6 hopefully that will be sufficient. They said if I ship it to them it would take a wk from the time they get it.

I have another ? I have been reading in other posts that ESR's porting isnt the best who does really good porting work?? Are there other builders that I could get the same thing or better for the same price?? Oh yeah for the same price I could go 370 or 380 they (esr) told me is there that big of a diff or no?? Thanks

A 350 w/ stroke would be their 330 piston. I would guess to go up to 370 that would have to be the 350 piston and then the stroke. I have heard about some problems with that bigger piston. I think the cylinder get too thin.
Each shops porting will be loved or hated, just like asking what is better a ford or chevy. I would trust ESR to get mine right.
