Default 07 Rancher question

I am considering purchasing an 07 Rancher. Can someone tell me the approximate top speed of the new 420 models. Any and all basic knowledge about them. I have read all the reviews but prefer to hear from an owner.

thanks

The highest Ive had mine was 54mph.

Im thinking it will go a little faster ,but the spot I was testing is not very long and I keep running out of trail.
Havent had a chance to test it on blacktop that was long enough.

I can say that when brand new I drove it around my parants neighbor hood and there is a very steep hill in there.
I got a little running start before hitting the hill ,and it was able to maitain 47 mph all the way up the hill in 5th.

This hill is probably a 1/4 mile long.

Where have you seen reviews??? I've been looking for some. Reviews in the press have been strangely lacking........

One thing I have been wondering about. Being fuel injection, doesn't it have to have a fuel pump??? What happens when you have a dead battery???? I notice that the recoil starter is "optional", so say you don't have one and you are going to have to push start it if the battery is dead. Does the generator kick in and give enough power to the pump???

I had read the same stuff before over and over again, but unfortunately it is only a TECHNICAL REVIEW. I'm looking for RIDER reviews, from someone who actually rode the thing! I'm not expecting "shootouts" at his point, but this stuff has sure been so slow in coming........

I'll keep an eye out for the Quad mag....

Default 07 Rancher question

Well, at least 20 of those miles are on asphalt crusing in the neighborhood the night I brought it home.

The other 55 are from trails with some wet spots.
Havent had any problems ,but wouldnt expect to with 75 miles either.

I plan on taking it to broadriver ATV park this sunday, and they have everything from mild trails to super swamps so we will see how it does.

I can say that the miles Ive put on have all been WOT!!!

Ive done some mild jumps with it ,and compared to what im used to (85 TRX250) it lands a million times smoother!
forgot to add Ive done a few wheelies to.
Not hard at all with this machine.
Punch it from a dead stop in 1st it will come up pretty high.

Get up to maybe 10mph in 2nd ,and put your body into it a bit and it will pick up and ride who knows how far.
Everytime i get it up in 2nd I feeel like its going to flip backwards so I have to let off, but it has lots of low end torque.

This is a 4x2 ES.

Thanks again abmobil, for all the info. Every little detail matters to me. Especially the wheely part I have had several quads in the past. I did'nt enjoy my last one as much as I thought I would because it was too heavy to be very nimble. While it was a great machine and fairly quick for a 4x4 it still hard to come from a sport quad and be completely satisfied with a full utility. I am hoping the 07 Rancher would be an in between machine. Still debating though.

Speaking of ES. How do you feel about that? I have seen lots of posts in the past of people having issues. I was considering the manual but if I am not mistaken only the ES comes with any sort of speedo.
