2004 Raptor 660 - carb problem i think??
#1
Hi everyone...
I have a 2004 Yamaha Raptor 660 that I bought about a week and a half ago. I rode it for a few minutes before I bought it and it ran great. I rode it around the neighborhood once a couple of days ago and had no problems. Today when I went to go ride it started to give me problems. It cranked up just fine. It idled just fine. As I gave it gas, it started to spit / sputter. It would not really go anywhere and kind of jerked back and forth as I rode. I could give it full throttle and it would do the same thing. Even back fired several times. At first I thought that it was not warmed up yet so i let it idle and warm up, but that wasnt it. Like I said....it cranks and idles fine. I talked to a friend who said that there is probably just some trash in the carb.....he said mostly likely in the pilot jet. Sound right? Or could it be anything else?
Thanks
Dan

get a parking brake blockoff plate for like 10 bucks, they come in all colors and look good, then take the PB cable right off and disconnect the wire/switch from the clutch perch. good luck!

Just push your parking brake all the way in so it touches the stop point so it is completely disengaged. You will then see exactly what the problem is. Then after that, you can wither bypass the sensor yourself, or get a block of plate. Block off plate looks cooler.
