Default Octane Boost added to gas tank

Opinions wanted on adding some Octane Boost to the quad gas?? If mixed properly does it do any harm to your machine??
I am already running 91 octane - VP racing fuel is a little costly..

Thanks

I run Klotz Octane Booster. What I like most about it is that it has an ester synthetic lube in it for the top end (kind of like the 2-stroke idea). It also has a fuel preservative (for long term storage) and moisture absorbers.

I'm not looking for a huge boost in octane, just a little over pump gas to insure that I never ever have detonation, so I use only a minimum amount. It will turn clear plastics a brown color, but I have had no problems with it making plastic brittle or eating through any rubber hoses, like some people say an analine based booster will do. My friends love the smell of my exhaust!

It's not a bad thing as long as it is worth it ...... If you have enough compression and are not wasting the extra octane it's OK .....

Recon pretty much summed it up for a lot of people. I know guys who run all kinds of fuel additives and they seem to have no problems. Of course you want to use a reasonable amount of product.....

I generally just run 93 pump, but my engine is totally stock. If I had mods I'd probably run a little extra octane too.

What issues are you having that you think you need octane booster? Whats the static compression? What does the factory call for with your quad?

The compression is the same as a basically a stock 450R.. I am not having any issues with it I just wanted a little more hp. I know 91 octane is not that impressive either.. For a race machine I just would have thought to add a little pep to the gasoline..

You will pick up nothing, none, nada, zero HP with plain octane booster. If you want more power your going to have to give it more O2. And the only way to do that (fuel wise) is with an oxygenated fuel.
If you want you can dump in about 10% methanol to your gasoline to pick up a "slight" increase in power. You might have to jet up accordingly.

The only thing octane booster is good for is cleaning out your fuel system, besides it would only bump you from 91 to 92 oct. if you dumped a whole bottle in a gallon of gas.
