1987 warrior

alright iv got a 1987 warrior and i was wondering if all the parts are interchangable with all the other years because i have came across a few parts that say 89' and up so maybe they are full of it or maybe yamaha upgraded some things over time.

a lot of parts will fit any year but there are a few that were slighly different. the motor are practicaly the same and they realy didnt make a major changes over the years. most parts are interchangable with the 87-88. the a arms are not the same and the suspension is diferent on the new years. the best part of the 87 is it is the only year with replacible ball joints

actually for around the 90 (89?) model yr they made significant changes; they moved the engine back in the frame a little in an attempt to correct the nose-heavy feel, different wheels, tires, moved the lights up from the bumper area to near the handlebars, and kept them square at first and then later changed them to the round units that were similar to the banshee's...they also addressed the carb cutting out issue (which it still did but alledgely not as bad). subsequently the recoil starter became 'an option' but will bolt on all yrs...they also changed the engine paint from black to the silvery gray... color shcmes on these and the banshee went 'crazy' for awhile...some strange combos they came up with... other than that they are pretty much the same with no major internal engine work. it was a huge success for yamaha and was once the best selling atv for a while.
we had a few 88's an '87 and a '90 in our crew. the suspension was revalved and spring rates were different on the 90 (89?) and up and was a little better but you should be able to bolt the shocks from all yrs on any yr. if they did change the a-arms, thats news to me b/c it looked remarkably the same with no glaring differences. not saying they didnt but we didnt notice...of course by that time we moved on to banshees...
