How hard is to change a Drive Belt on the trail?
#1
I'm about to go on a 500 mile weekend ATV trip, so I purchased a spare belt in case the ony I have installed breaks.
My question is, how comlicated is to change a broken belt while in the trail? I've never done so, but I'm sure someone in my group can do it, so I just want to know if it's too hard/ complicated/ time-consuming.
I have a 06 SP 800, by the way.
Thanks

it would not be that hard to do with the correct tools...,inspect the job and make sure to grab what you need to make the job as easy as possible.... i have limped a long ways on a belt throwing chunks and thank god i made it home both times......GOOD LUCK AND HAVE A SAFE RIDE

basicly take off the foot rest and then 3/8" shocket w/ extenion is best. once cover is off then just grab belt and roll it backwards(trans. in netural) pulling toward you and it should come right off. sometimes i find it easier to kind of pry the sheeves apart to release pressure on the belt.

like i sugeted double check YOUR machine out and make sure you pack the CORRECT tools for the swap.. who knows if somebody put in a last minute odd ball nut or bolt( that would suck in the middle of BFE).. thats what i would do... have a nice ride
