RHINO STUCK IN LOW RANGE?
#1
I ride a 05 Grizzly 660. One of my friends purchased a 06 Rhino, which is basically the same machine. This past weekend he submerged it in a mudpit and it sucked the belt drive full of muddy water and of course slipped badly. After returning home with it and draining and flushing the cover, it doesnt slip, but will run top speed at 30mph now like in a low range. If engaged in low range it is even lower. High range doesnt slip, but doesnt appear to be in a high range either. He pulled the cover today and cleaned it inside. You can rev it up in nuetral and the belt travels to the top of the pullies as it should. But when in high range, it still tops out at 30mph and sounds tacked out. Low range is of course a lot slower. Any ideas what is wrong?

I have been having the same problem with my Rhino stuck in low range. Have you all been able to find out the problem with it yet. Please let me know what I could do to fix it when you find out Thanks

He finally got frustrated and brought it to me. I rode with him and could tell it was slipping slightly on top end. He did not think so. He had already pulled the belt cover and washed everything. When I ran my fingers across the pullys you could feel a slippery coating yet. I cranked it and revved the engine and the belt was only coming up about three fourths of the way to the top. I took degreaser and soaked the pullies and belt and also all into the clutch and plates. I then started it and kept spraying cleaner into it and would see oily mud and slime slinging out. I did this for a while and then hosed it off with it running and turned off. Went to the parts store and got two cans of brake cleaner spray and came back and sprayed everything with it not running and then again with it running. The brake clean evaporates. Drove it again and much better but still slinging out gunk. Waited over night and did it again and the belt would come to the top. Put it all back together, rode this weekend and he said it wasnt this fast or responsive the day it was new. Hope this helps you. It cured his with a good cleaning!
