Idiot light problems, thanks OMR your mods work great.

I have the red temp/oil light staying on. I have checked these forums, and found several ideas. But I was wandering if any one has had similar problems on there 2004 650 ds. I have a Pro Com CDI, OMR's carb mods, modified tip on factory pipe. Other than that bike is factory. I have looked into the oil tank, and the radiator both seem to be moving, or showing flow. The fan does work, I checked it, I just don't know which way to go next. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Also I would like to thank OMR. Your mods work fantasticly. I can't thank you enough.

Was also wandering my shop manual is for the older models but it says something about having to split the engine. That's just if you want to get at the check valves right, I hope.

$10 to $12 at the dealer. You don't have to split the engine. Just look under the carb, it is a brass looking sensor screwed in the engine with a wire out of the top of it.

thanks FatHolly and JMAC650 I'll give that a try.

I had this same problem while at the dunes in Winnemucca, I figured it to be my sensor also cause when I unplugged it the light went out. Just for curiosity I pulled the sensor out and started the eng and no oil came out. I got lucky and shook the bike and got whatever was in the oil pump to fall out, just found out this last weekend when I split my cases to fix my shift forks that there was some aluminum that went into my pump.
Try pulling out the sensor and make sure you are getting oil, if not it could get expensive like I found out.

Thanks for all the help, I'm about a 2 hour drive to the shop I bought it from. Not to mention they aren't bombardier dealers. There is a dealer closer but I promised that jentleman that I would never ever darken his door step again. He had me waiting for a slide for my carb for over 3 weeks, telling me that he had it ordered. Only to find out he hadn't even made the call yet. So I thank everyone who posted addvice. I think you can use one out of your local auto parts shop. I'm not positive but I think I saw a thread here where someone used one from like Kragen or something. Do some searches for "oil pressure sensor"... it might be worth a try instead of a 2 hour drive. Also you could order it... try robsperformance.com or bikebandit.com they both have online OEM parts.
