Default Exact location of VIN on Scrambler 500cc 2001

I've been having a horrible time w/my scrambler, I cannot find the VIN # on the bike. I've looked near the left footpeg and cannot find it. I've taken off the plastics and cannot find it. I've looked under the headlights and cannot find it!

Problem was when I traded for the Scram the seller never had the title and gave me a bill of sale and permission to get the title from the lender (who is paid off). Now I want to sell it, the lender isn't helping me out w/the title and I cannot find a VIN to put on a bill of sale so nobody wants to buy it.

Help!

Paul

Should be on the left side of the frame, just in front of the clutch cover area.

I have honestly combed every inch (especially in that area) and had other scrambler owners come and look at the bike.. We cannot find the vin. No evidence that it was scratched out or anything... Any other ideas are welcome... If the frame was replaced would it have any special markings?

Thanks,

Got me at a loss there. Should be on the frame in that location.

Just went out and looked at mine. The vin is right below where the oil fill is. If you can rub some chalk on it, it should help make it show up. Or any evidence of it's removal.

Thank you VERY much for your time and replies! I will definatly try that chalk idea. What year is yours or would that even matter? Thanks again!

I don't think the year matters on the location of the number, just the type of number they were using at that time.

I'm looking at a 2000 year model. Not a scrammy, but it would still be in the same location.

Good luck.

The only two places I have seen them is the lower left front on the frame and the cross piece behind the air box on the older machines.
