what is the best engine oil to put in this cheap thing? we use it to go muddin and get it stuck under water. we picked it up for $250.00

 

that my friend is one rock solid bike. Probably the best bike Honda has ever made. Doesn't have any of the modern features of the new bikes but you'll be able to beat that bike up for a lot of years yet. I have an 86 fourtrax and can't kill it and a few tried before me without any success.

I run the Castrol GTX synthetic 80w in my 87 250r. DataPacks is right, you can't destroy these bikes. This is my second 250r and I have an 89 frame waiting to be built. I raced banshee's, Honda 450R's and even the new Suzuki LT450r. Most bikes I've raced I've beat. However the Suzuki got the holeshot off me but he couldn't shake me. By the way, we raced up Comp and Oldsmobile hills at Glamis.[img]i/expressions/face-icon-small-happy.gif[/img]

 

I have a 1986 honda 350 fourtrax it has a problem that i can't figure out. At times when
i first start it up it starts ok revs up ok but when i go to shift it in forward or reverse it
shuts off just like shuting the key off. After it warms up for about ten minutes it runs good
with no problems.I don't know if it is electrical or not i'm thinking fan control unit or nutral/
reverse switch or mabey oil temp switch. i don't know if any of these could shut off the engine
or not it has me puzzeld i'm having a hard time finding a repair manual for a 1986/ 350
a lot of 250 and 300 manuals but not the one i need. Like i said it runs good after its
warmed up.

Just out of curiosity, when was the last time you had the compression tested?? and the fuel filter changed??
