Hello,
I just bought a 2000 DS 650 and I am having a problem with it starting hard(all the time). When it does start it smokes a bit too. I'm new to these and could use any help you experts could give me.

Does it need a rebuild?

What would cause a hard start condition?

Please Explain, hard start better. Have you tried new spark plugs.

Yes, I have replaced the plugs but that didn't help any.

Just plain trying to get it started. Sometimes it takes forever to get it started. Just cranks and cranks. Then finally it will pop. Hot or cold.

No, I do not know the last time the valves were adjusted. I just got the machine. That's a very good point though. That could also be the reason for the smoking when started as well.

Does anyone have specs for the adjustment, or is this swomething I should have a dealer do?

 

After it warms is it easy to start? Also what does the new plug look like now that its run a bit? Could be jetting but I bet its valves
