Outlander Max 500 vs. Arctic Cat 650H1 TRV?

I've recently inherited a camp in the Adirondack Mtns. and I now need an atv. I need a 2-up so I know this limits my choices, and I don't like the idea of carrying a dump box around with me everywhere I go(Polaris X2)!! It will used 50/50 Trail riding (mainly dirt roads & small trails) and Workhorse (plowing & dragging out fallen trees). I would also like to keep it somewhere in the $8000 range. All input is greatly appreciated!!!!

I have had my 500 Max XT for about a month now and love it.I liked the ride and the power of the Can Am over the AC. One dealer I went to told me he would sale me the AC 650 about $250 cheaper than the Can Am 500. I noticed a bunch of AC's back behind his shop being worked on.Maybe they were just getting mods or something. So after riding both I decided on the Can Am.I purchased it from another dealer for about $450 less. Some people are complaining about the visco-lok but I dont do a lot of rock riding and havent noticed any problems.Have rode up some steep hills and climbed over fallen trees.Do buy skids for the Can Am.I bought the full ricochet package.

That was a backwards statement. They are by no means "fast", except for the 650V2. They are however plenty reliable. I also like the Outty though, so im not bashing, just making it real. The Outty is wicked fast.

Well maybe your so wrapped around your "650v2", that you don't see outside the box. Because you own it, its the only fast a/c made? Un Huh.
My uncle has had 3 a/c's, and probably biggest pos I have been on. Maybe they were all lemons who knows. BAsically he sold them all off and got a sportmas 500 and 700. Seems happy with the new machines.
If a/c quads are simliar to there sleds, then yes, they are fast and made very cheaply. Haven't riden a newer model yet, but 06-05 and down, not the machine I would choose for everyday riding.
I don't mean to start an "internet war", but because you own a certain machine, it isnt the be all end all.

Hey, you came on and just stated that they are junk, which s a LIE. I havnt seen a brand yet that is junk. Some people have problems, but every brand does. My buddies SP700 fell apart under him in a matter of months. His SP400 is fine. My Dads friend as an AC400 that blew the 4x4 out. Mine is fine with zero problems. I havnt seen any abnormal issues with Cat,and they are FAR from built cheap. And yes, the 650V2 IS the fast cat i ATVs. Cats arent made fast in the ATVs, they are built for work and technical trail riding.
