Just bought a Predator, oil question
#1
I just bought a 2004 polaris predator 50th anniversary edition today and I was wondering what kind of oil I should put in it. I think I am gonna buy polaris oil for it, but i was wondering what weight oil.

Congrats on the new ride. I'd stick with the polaris PS4 made specificly for the 4 stroke manual clutch polaris'. Make sure you change the oil every 10 hrs or so or you will notice the clutch hanging up after a while if you don't. Also check out www.predatorowners.com It's a very good resource for predator info.

i buy Rotella full synthetic which is 5w-40 i think, and comes in the gallon jugs (two oil changes) for 16 dollars, alot of the guys on predatorowners.com use the same stuff so it cant be bad

I got my oil and filter now, I thought I heard somewhere that there is 2 drain plugs??Are they both on the bottom of the motor? And what are the torque specs for the oil filter cover? I heard a rumor that the oil filter cover bolts snap off easy.
Man, I really should get a service manual!!

Get a service manual........and join predatorowners.com
There are two drain plugs........on under the engine........the other under the black oil tank.......look for the holes in the skid plate. Do NOT over tighten these either(use a small ratchet.
For the oil filter cover......do NOT overtighten.......I just use a 1/4" ratchet......and don't get to crazy with it. I think they actually call for like 7 ft*lbs.......
