Default 06 Hawkeye loses power under load

I ride a 2006 Polaris 4x4 Hawkeye that has a definite engine/power problem under any sort of load.

When you take it up hills it continuously bogs down as you're gunning it until you're crawling up at 5-6mph with the throttle floored and the engine hardly revving. We took it to the dealer for repair and they couldn't fix it, though it seems like it might be slightly better than when we first took it in.

Still, climbing hills at 5 mph doesn't sound right, even for a 297cc quad. The fact that it's in a very tall gear also concerns me. It feels like the CVT is doing the opposite of what it should on hills.

All around, acceleration is pretty sluggish but acceptable and top speed is around 44. But under any sort of load it just falls way back, the little kids on their 50cc Predators get away from me on the climbs, which is quite a safety concern for me obviously.

Here in France I have seen on a forum many people having the same trouble than you when climbing small hills with their new 425 4*4 TGBs (made in Taiwan).
Everybody was looking to CVT problems,as for you ,the dealers were unable to fix the problem .At the end it was the air filter,so may be have a look there.Regards.

Has your carb been updated? Check the forum under Hawkeye.

I'm not sure if the carb has been updated or not, I don't know the extent of what they repaired. The technician didn't seem to want to reveal any sort of "magic" of his tuning procedure. From what it sounded like, he only did jetting.

The stock hawkeye carb is defective?

Mainly a jetting and other small parts thing. Search under Hawkeye and go to Hawkeye carb fix. It shows what is involve. Generally, no power under a load is a restriction thing, like a stopped up fuel filter, or air filter, etc. Replace the plug, load it up and check the plug color.
