The smaller tube is normally the casevent... get a small filter and mount it where it won't make a mess. The larger tube (or snorkle) may be necessary for proper air flow. In most bikes it creates a vortex and gets the air flowing smooth. When you remove it,the air tumbles into the carb instead of flowing smoothly. I don't know about your particular application, but I would guess that it would be better to keep it with the filter at the end... I could be wrong but I haven't seen many bikes that benefit from removing the intake snorkle. The Predator uses the same carb as the Can Am DS650 and I can tell you that removing the snorkle on the DS makes less power. Hope that helps and good luck getting her ready for the trip.

Removing the tube, does NOT make less power!! If you put a strait clamp on, it does. You need(for a clamp on), a Twin Air filter.......it has a shorter tube.......also, you'll need a crankcase breather.
