replaced front wheel seals-STILL LEAKS!
#1
Hey guys,
Last week I replaced the leaking seal on the front hub of my 1995 425 Magnum 4X4, Seemed like it went well, I've done others.
Tonight I just finished doing both hubs on my 1996 (same model), when I was putting it back into the rolling shed (covered trailer) I noticed the hub I did last week was once again LEAKING!!
I followed the factory repair manual, and every thing was clean CLEAN!
Any suggestions??

did u remember seeing any rings around where the seal seets onto? there are two seals one in the front and one in the back, every polaris will begin to develope rings on the front one, this is where the hub seals to the outer part of the coil. so two suggestions replace both seals, check your seal instalation, and if all good then u may have to repair the rings that develope from the seal running on it. you can get this stainless steel almost like tape that u wrap around it to make a nice smooth seal again. hope this helps!

Thanks for the repy!
Yeah the seal has a rubber seal on each side, and the inside rubber has a spring around it to help compress the rubber around the metal on the hub.
The surface of the hub that the rubber rides on is clean and groove free.
When it goes into place you feel the rubbler flaps go over that surface.
So I'm still wondering, (wondering if the seals I did today will also leak)
Open to all suggestions exept buying new quads! (4 kids)

perhaps check ur bearings. if they are worn to the max ur wheels will sag with slack allowing oil to leak out the seals. if the surfaces are good, and u cleaned it right then really either u got the wrong seals or ur bearings are gone.
