First of all, the 250R is may favorite machine of all time, but it should be considered a "project quad". If you like wrenching and tinkering, you will have a great time. On the other hand if you want to ride, don't pick a machine that is that old.
I would stay away from the Cannondales as well. It is really an odball machine. They are no longer made, but I think you can still get parts somewhere (???). Again, this is a choice for a tinkerer.
You got to consider why you can't find any EX's......maybe it's because the owner's are out riding instead of wrenching???? If they had to wrench instead of ride, they would probably be getting rid of them.
I say hold out for a 400EX or Z400.

I agree with everything reconranger said. So if you already have a 400ex why do you want another one??? are you selling the current one you own? Or is it for someone else??
ltz/kfx/dvx400's or 400ex is the best bet...stay away from cannondales...pretty fast bikes but they got quite a bit of problems you'll work on it as much as you ride it.

yea thats what i kinda figured. The guy just put a new motor in the 250r. I heard they were awesome machines. But im no mechanic thats for sure. The cannondale is kinda new it only has the break in hours on it. O as for why a new bike I have no friends that have bikes so they all wanna ride mine. So I figure if i get another. It will be way more easier.I can find the 300ex all day.And very few of the old model 400ex.Seems texas doesnt have many used quads around. If you hear of one let me know. thanks steph

What kind of terrain do you ride????
All the 450 have engines that like to be ridden reved out. It's a whole different kind of engine from the 400EX! The EX has lots of low end torque, and it doesn't mind being lugged down and ridden slow on a tight trail.
On the other hand, I mostly ride my 450R in the open desert and fast more open desert trails. If I ride it on real tight trails, there is a lot of clutch work involved, and it just gets real old real fast.
The 300EX is a superb little trail quad, just like the 400EX. It really excells on really tight trails, because it fits between the trees easily. It however has less power, and isn't the best fit for larger riders.

My friend had a 450r damn thing had to kick start. And it was always a pain to get started.I was thinking more of the yamaha. I really only trail ride. But we do have a track here i sometimes ride on. And of course all the back rounds I open it up pretty good.I dont want anything smaller than my 400ex.
