I have never ridden there but thanks for the heads up.
Some people don't know what it's like to have no legal places to ride within a three hour drive!! I know that that area is the "Pine Barrens" and it is just that barren! My family owned 180 acres there many years ago and after the Pine Barren Act were forced to let it go for taxes.... Some tree huggers felt that land should be left untouched - very unAmerican. It is thousands of acres of nothingness.... If you want open spaces move to Montana!!!

It'seasy for people from other states to say things about what we go though BUT I BET IF YOU LIVE HERE YOU"D BE THE SAME AS ME!!ANY info givin to other rider to keep them safe is good info weather or not it right or criminal.

I lived in NJ for 30 years, so I feel your pain.... We had no legal place to ride where I grew up in Morris county, so everyone rode on the railroad tracks...... everyone did it, all the time, and occasionally were chased by cops and NJ Transit workers ......
A large part of my motivation for leaving NJ was the lack of riding areas, and the extreme expense of trying to buy you own.....
Now I have two different 150-acre chunks of property that I can ride on anytime with no problems..... The neighbors that can actually see and hear part of our track, actually sit and watch us as entertainment.... In NJ just the fact they could see and hear you would have the cops there probably shutting down your OWN property ......

I should also add that although we ride as outlaws we:
Never leave behind trash - we usually carry out more than we generate.
Stay on existing trails or fire roads (We even often move fallen trees from trails).
Register and insure our bikes and wear a helmet - no loud pipes!
Never run from park rangers, forest fire staff or cops. We have been stopped several times and were let go every time but once where we just had to have a friend pick us up with a trailer. It's amazing what being polite and respectful will do. (Even if we were to get a ticket for trespassing it is just the cost of riding in NJ/NY/PA!)
Never go near "watershed" mechanicals or buildings dams etc. - stay deep in the woods
Go slowly by hikers and through intersections.
Turn the bikes off when we come across horses.
We do often come across guys that break all these rules and are ruining it for everyone.

We have hundreds of miles of trails in our area. The problem is you have to ride a little on state roads going from trail to trail.
The cops will nail you if they catch you. We have a simple solution for this problem. Don't stop.
