What do you think about the Kodiak?

I just bought a 2001 Kodiak Green. I love it so far. I am new to ATV's so I don't know if my skills are high enought to really give you a good review. What I do know is that so far the Kodiak has preformed just how I needed and wanted it too. If I were you though I would at least get a winch with it. You never know.

Tall dudes like me 6'4" get pushed forward because of the seat construction on long trips, the dunflops are duds, the rear brake is a dud, some have a problem with a freezing choke, I don't, make sure air induction on front is tight otherwise lots of water gets to the belt, get a filter wrench, and get use to paying lots for a oil filter, you asked for problems, would I buy another, yep.

My rear brake pads lasted about two months. I replaced them with EBCs, and they still look new after a year. It got extremely cold here in the last week, and my choke froze, but it still starts right up. I would recomend the Kodiak to anyone. It's a great machine.

Roar brings up a good point. The Kodiak is a little small for my liking. I don't think I could be comfortable on an all day ride. I'm only 6'2", but weigh about 50 pounds more than I should. If your a big person, you should test ride some bigger quads.

The way the seat is designed with the rear higher then the front is always sliding me ahead, my knees end up against the bars enough to be uncomfortable. It has to do with the design of the monoshock system and getting the seat over the shock is my thoughts. Still a good machine!
