Default banshee vs ds650 in the dunes- both all modded up

Which quad, banshee or ds650, can be made into a faster duner by adding combinations of drag chassis, crotch rocket engines, motorcycle frame drafts, turbos, nitrous, etc.

I saw an 80,000USD basheebusa that looked pretty nice, is any ds going to top that for performance?

Some of you will say that its not really the same quad anymore if you get a new chassis, engine, and everything- but as long as you dont do it all at once, to me it is still the same quad- just with thousands invested in it.

Im just trying to spark some ideas into people's minds for future project drag quads.

I've already got one idea of my own- DS450 when it comes out- it just keeps sitting in the back of my mind reminding me of its haunting presence

since it will already have an aprilia (isnt that also made by rotax) v-twin engine in it (thats what everyone says) Why not substitute that "little" 450 for a 550 arpilia, or even a 1000cc aprilia- the 1000cc is what i will want to try- a claimed 143 hp at 10k rpm. hopefully it will stay around the same weight as a predator or an outlaw 500 at 400-430 lbs

So unless 2 strokes make a miraculous comeback- or i discover some frustrating drawbacks with my selections- hopefully i will be riding the above quad in 7-10 years and i will be looking forward to racing a dsbusa

what are you guys planning on doing over the next few years? or is it a secret? have fun and good luck

I guess i should have posted this in the project quads forum but i dont really want to retype some of this stuff.

If you are talking a strict drag bike that banshee wins hands down. There are so many cylinders and power combos for the shee. Not only that, they are easy to work on. Ive got a buddy with a drag shee that putting up over 200 horse.

Both have poor frames. Not a great place to start. I wouldn't waste my money on either one, unless I had all the parts already sitting around my garage.

from what my "source" has told me, the can am 450 is called a TREMOR. as for this topic its like everything else...everyone has their opinion. you said duner. a good duner is something that is reliable, fun and easy to work on. myself i would go with the ds. im not a smoker fan. as for the drag aspect...i will give the shee crowd that there are quite a few in the 3's. that being said though the banshee has been around since 1987. the big bore 4 strokes didnt show up til 2000 and there are a handfull out there that are into the high 3's.
just my opinion.....but for the 7yrs the ds and big bore 4 strokes have been out compared to the banshee's. the r&d has come along way.

why does the ds have a poor frame? it was made to run the baja 1000 outta the crate! it is the has the most room to do a street bike conversion. it is over built if you ask most drag racers. i know that i wouldnt even consider doing a conversion on my 450. theres not enough room and i dont think the frame would handle all the torque and weight of the 4cyl street bike motor.

Why would they call it a TREMOR?? did the prototype that they might have built supposedly vibrate a lot? tremor does sound like a messed up name- they already have 2 names for sport quads- (renegade and ds) why add a third division?

maybe cause thats what your supposed to do when you buy one....its supposed to be a pure adrenaline rush?? i dunno.....why did they call it the renegade? kinda like the old traxter and quest...who knows. names dont really matter to me as long as it runs like a scalded dog and keeps brp up top!
