rincon vs. Vinson drag race?
#1
I have riden with a guy on a rincon for about two years now and the guy has never beaten me in any sort of race and he is a good rider. I have ripped around with a couple guys up north on rincons and they have not been able to keep up with me. Is the rincon really slower than the vinson 500? Is the new 680 fi machine any faster?

There must be something wrong with those rincons. I smoke m friends vinson all day long. I can keep up with my friends polaris 700efi. Top speed is 65mph. I know the vinson wont do 65. Put a pipe and cdi on teh rinny and it will beat the popo 700 and hang with the grizz and KQ700. You cant beat the sporty handling of the rincon either.

I have never raced a Rincon but my 2003 Vinson 5 Speed does top out at 64 MPH which is only about 1 MPH less than my friends 2004 Grizzly. The grizzly does get there quicker though. I am very happy with the Vinson's performance for a 500 and wouldn't expect it to beat something weighing the same with 35% more displacement. I love the low end torque the most. The only problem I have is when I shift fast it likes to skip 4th gear. I would consider a larger machine but the biggest you can get with a manual shifter is a 500. I don't like the constant unneccessary high RPM's that the automatics have. They're designed to always be in the power band which is good about 5% of the time, the rest of the time it just results in excess noise, gas consumption and engine wear. The only automatics we have are a Rhino and a Prowler and I sure wish there was an "Overdrive" mode or something on them for the 98% of the time that we aren't climbing a hill or going through mud. The Honda's may be different with their car style automatics and control their RPM's a little better, I've never ridden one.

Even though the vinson gives up about 175cc to a rincon, it is amazing the vinson is even compared to it. That alone is quite a compliment to the vinson which is really a mid-size. In reading a variety of atv sites, I often find the vinson mentioned in comparison to big bores, especially the manual version. I can say I am really happy I chose the vinson when considering what $5300 OTD got me.

If u want a atv that will win drag races get a can-am. The can-am 500 will beat the rincon 680 in a drag race.

now are you guys that say the rincon riding with a 5 speed or the automatic? The manual shift version is much quiker than the automatic. I suppose it dosent matter anymore I sucked up a gulp of water in a pond trying to get my friend on his rincon unstuck. IT rained more than i thought in the last few days i guess. And by the way iv got a winch and full stids and bumpers and everything else the ricon i ride with only have winches on them.

The Vinson that my friend has is a manual. I have a video of his vinson, my rinny, a Polaris 700 and a bf650. I was very surprised on how well the vinson held its own but it was in the back of the pack. I almost bought the vinson but found a great deal on my rinny. I will have to get the vid from my friend and post it somehow. The bf smoked us all me and the 700 were right next to each other and the vinson was about 3 quads behind.
Hopefully your quad is ok after the water. Just make sure you change the oil a few times and you should be ok.
